Job summary

DRMP’s Construction Engineering Inspection division is hiring Transportation Technicians and CEI Inspectors at all levels to support roadway and bridge projects in North Carolina. You will inspect construction activities, perform field tests, and prepare daily reports while coordinating with engineers and project teams.

Training, a company vehicle, and travel to sites are included. The role requires a high school diploma or an associate degree with relevant experience, plus possible

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years inspection experience (1+ year in roadway/bridge) or Associate degree with 2+ years inspection experience (1+ year in roadway construction)
• Knowledge of construction methods, plans, specs, and inspection procedures; ability to perform field tests and take material samples
• Ability to use computers/tablets for documentation and reporting
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team
• Surveying and layout experience is preferred where applicable
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history; ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction activities for compliance with contract documents and standards
• Perform field tests and collect material samples for lab testing
• Prepare daily diaries and reports documenting contractor activities and project progress
• Maintain field books, density logs, material reports, quantity records, and pay documentation
• Measure and verify construction dimensions, elevations, and quantities
• Perform construction calculations and prepare documentation for progress payments and final estimates
• Enter and maintain project reports using computers/tablets
• Communicate clearly with project personnel and report deficiencies to supervisors
• Follow DRMP safety requirements and applicable client standards
• Perform other duties appropriate to level and assignment
