Job summary

DRMP’s Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division seeks Transportation Technicians and CEI Inspectors at all levels in Asheville, NC. You’ll support field inspections, testing, and reporting on roadway and bridge projects, with field-based assignments at project sites and parent office support.

Qualifications

• Education & Experience varies by level; options include HS diploma with 4+ years inspection experience.
• Associate degree with 2+ years inspection experience.
• Candidates will be evaluated against qualifications applicable to the specific position and client assignment

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction activities for compliance with contract documents, plans, standards, and specifications.
• Perform field tests and collect material samples for laboratory testing.
• Prepare daily diaries and reports documenting contractor activities, project progress, and inspection findings.
• Maintain field books, density logs, material reports, quantity records, and pay documentation.
• Measure and verify construction dimensions, alignment, elevations, and quantities.
• Perform construction calculations and prepare supporting documentation for progress payments and final estimates.
• Enter, review, and maintain project reports and data using computers, tablets, and reporting systems.
• Communicate clearly with project personnel and report deficiencies or concerns to the supervisor.
• Exercise initiative and independent judgment in solving work problems.
• Follow DRMP safety requirements.
• Perform other duties appropriate to the position level and project assignment
