Job summary

DRMP’s Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is expanding across North Carolina, hiring Transportation Technicians and CEI Inspectors at all levels to support roadway and bridge projects. Assignments are made to home offices with most work at project sites and discussed during recruiting.

You will support engineers, perform field tests, document progress, and mentor others as you gain experience. A strong background in surveying, layout, and safety is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 4+ years construction inspection experience (1+ year in roadway or bridge construction)
• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field plus 2+ years construction inspection experience (1+ year in roadway construction)
• Candidates evaluated against qualifications applicable to the specific position and client assignment

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction activities for contract compliance and quality
• Perform field tests and collect material samples for lab testing
• Prepare daily diaries/reports documenting activities and progress
• Maintain field books, density logs, material reports, quantity records, pay documentation
• Measure/verify construction dimensions, alignment, elevations, and quantities
• Perform construction calculations and support progress/pay estimates
• Enter/maintain project reports using computers/tablets
• Communicate with project personnel and report deficiencies
• Exercise independent judgment as appropriate for level
• Follow safety requirements and project procedures
• Perform other duties per assignment
