Job summary

UES is seeking a Field Technician I to support on-site inspections, materials testing, and environmental sampling for geotechnical and environmental projects. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and hands-on field experience across diverse environments.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma (or equivalent), basic lab and field testing knowledge, strong organizational skills, and the ability to travel frequently.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or coursework in construction, engineering, geology, or related field is a plus.
• 0-3 years of field-based outdoor experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with safe driving record.
• Industry certifications such as ACI Level 1 Concrete Testing or ability to obtain within a defined period.
• Commitment to safety, OSHA standards, and PPE usage.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Field Data Collection software or similar tools.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
• Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 70% of the time and work in varying outdoor conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and other materials to verify compliance with specs and standards.
• Properly collect, label, and transport samples from job sites to laboratories for testing.
• Complete detailed reports, logs, and documentation of test results for project managers.
• Maintain and calibrate testing equipment per guidelines.
• Communicate test results and site conditions to supervisors and project teams.
• Adhere to project timelines, safety protocols, and PPE requirements.
• Travel to multiple job sites and operate company vehicle as needed.
