Job summary

UES is seeking a Field Technician I to support engineering, environmental services, and materials testing projects. You will conduct on-site inspections, collect samples, and perform field and lab testing to verify compliance with specifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or coursework in construction, engineering, geology, or a related field is a plus.
• 0–3 years of experience in a field-based, outdoor, or physically demanding role preferred (construction, materials testing, geotechnical, or related industry experience is a plus).
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; ability to operate company-assigned vehicles safely.
• Industry certifications such as ACI Level 1 Concrete Testing, or ability to obtain within a specified time period.
• Commitment to workplace safety, following OSHA standards and company safety policies, including proper PPE usage.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Field Data Collection (FDC) software or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and other construction materials to verify compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Collect, label, and transport samples from job sites to laboratories for testing and analysis.
• Prepare detailed reports, logs, and documentation of test results and submit to project managers and stakeholders.
• Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper operation following company guidelines.
• Communicate updates on job status, site conditions, and issues to dispatch and project managers.
• Adhere to project timelines and schedules, and support changing requirements as needed.
• Operate and maintain an assigned company vehicle and perform routine maintenance.
