Job summary

Lumen is hiring a Field Technician I to support enterprise customers by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and restoring network services in the field. This entry‑level role emphasizes hands‑on work, structured training, and long‑term career growth in telecommunications.

Based in Bellevue, NE, you will travel to customer sites, install and test networking equipment, and participate in an on‑call rotation to support outages and service restoration.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or up to 2 years relevant experience including 1+ years in network monitoring or maintenance.
• Basic networking knowledge and interest in telecommunications technology.
• Valid driver’s license to operate company vehicle.
• Ability to work in field environments including physical requirements.
• Strong learning aptitude, work ethic, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot network equipment, replace defective components, and work with resources to restore service.
• Assist in installation/change/decommission and testing of Next Gen technologies (Edge Compute, Wavelength, Fiber, Ethernet, IP).
• Install, activate, test, and maintain network services and telecom equipment.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and repair for customer and network service issues.
• Conduct fiber and Ethernet testing and circuit validation.
• Travel to customer and network locations for field work.
• Support outage response and service restoration, including on‑call rotation.
• Deliver a positive customer experience through professional communication and support.
• Follow safety procedures in a physically demanding field environment.
• Collaborate with team and participate in ongoing training and development.
