Job summary

PowerSecure, a Southern Company subsidiary, seeks a Service Technician for Commercial Generators to maintain and repair generator and power distribution equipment. You will provide technical support to customers on operational and maintenance aspects while traveling to client sites.

Qualifications include HS diploma or GED, 3–10 years field experience depending on level, and strong schematics/troubleshooting skills. On-call duties and travel up to 25% are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent; related military experience accepted.
• 3 years field experience for Level II; 6 years for Level III; 10 years for Level IV in generator systems.
• Experience with 500kW+ generator systems and preventative maintenance.
• Expert in engine repairs; familiar with Volvo and PSI engines.
• Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams; diagnose electrical issues.
• Experience with automatic transfer systems and switchgear.
• Strong on-site troubleshooting and customer interaction skills.

Responsibilities

• Daily travel with independent work structure.
• Provide 24x7 on-call service as required.
• Perform preventative maintenance per contract terms.
• Interact with customers and provide technical support.
• Coordinate on-site subcontractors and manage tools/equipment.
• Maintain company vehicle and ensure safety standards.
• Complete field reports and time/expense documentation timely.
