Job summary

bioMerieux is seeking a Field Systems Engineer to service customers across assigned territories, with national support as needed. This role requires independent work, remote operations, and potential overnight travel on short notice.

Key duties include installations, maintenance, and repairs, plus promoting service agreements and driving field service revenue. Training is provided, with travel and on-call rotations part of the job.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronic Technology, Computer Science, Biomedical or related discipline.
• 2+ years of professional related experience in troubleshooting and/or repair of complex electro‑mechanical, electronic, computer, electrical systems in commercial, industrial, or military setting.
• Education Substitution: In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, 6+ years of relevant experience, defined above, is required.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in state of residence.

Responsibilities

• Promptly respond to customer needs and perform installations, maintenance, upgrades, and repairs to ensure instruments meet specifications.
• Build trust with customers, promote service agreements, and identify sales opportunities for cross-functional teams.
• Drive field service revenue through billable offerings like preventive maintenance and equipment moves.
• Attend 6-9 weeks of product training at Durham, NC or St. Louis, MO offices within the first year; future trainings occur as needed.
• Travel includes both scheduled and unscheduled visits, with increased overnight stays for wide territories and occasional national travel.
• Participate in weekend/holiday on-call rotation (~every 5 weeks), with potential national travel for instrument support.
• Maintain spare parts inventory, company-issued vehicle, and all assigned equipment in good condition and per policy.
• Represent bioMerieux professionally, support trade shows as needed, and provide feedback to Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service to enhance service capabilities.
