Job summary

bioMerieux is seeking a Field Systems Engineer to service customers across assigned territories and nationally. The role requires strong technical skills to install, maintain, and repair instruments, with travel up to 90% domestically and occasional overnight stays.

The FSE will build customer trust, promote service agreements, and identify cross-functional sales opportunities while collaborating with service and support teams to drive revenue through preventive maintenance and equipment moves.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Engineering, Electronic Technology, Computer Science, Biomedical or other related discipline.
• 2+ years of professional related experience in troubleshooting and/or repair of complex electro-mechanical, electronic, computer, electrical systems in commercial, industrial, or military setting required.
• In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 6+ years of relevant experience, defined above, is required.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in state of residence.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer needs and perform installations, maintenance, upgrades, and repairs using electronics and computer skills.
• Build trust with customers, promote service agreements, and identify sales opportunities for cross-functional teams.
• Drive field service revenue through billable offerings like preventive maintenance and equipment moves.
• Attend 6–9 weeks of product training at Durham, NC or St. Louis, MO offices within the first year; future trainings as needed.
• Travel includes both scheduled and unscheduled visits, with overnight stays for wide territories and national travel as needed.
• Participate in weekend/holiday on-call rotation (~every 5 weeks) with local phone availability and potential national travel.
• Complete service work orders, QA checklists, and internal training requirements timely and accurately.
• Maintain up-to-date calendar of availability and submit travel expense reports regularly.
• Follow all company policies related to fleet vehicle use and upkeep.
• Maintain spare parts inventory, company-issued vehicle, and all equipment in good condition.
• Collaborate with sales and applications teams to enhance customer experience.
