Responsibilities

• Install, start up, commission, and perform FAT/SAT on automated inspection equipment at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, and controls issues in the field.
• Diagnose failures, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on equipment.
• Support IQ/OQ/PQ activities and equipment validation when required.
• Work with PLCs, HMIs, sensors, motors, and electrical systems.
• Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers.
• Train customers on operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Document services with detailed reports of work performed and parts used.
• Collaborate with Engineering, R&D, and support teams to resolve issues.

Job description

Bonfiglioli Engineering s.r.l. designs and manufactures automated inspection and testing equipment used to ensure product quality and integrity across the pharmaceutical, food & beverage, aerosol, and chemical industries.

As our U.S. operations continue to grow, we are seeking a hands‑on Commissioning & Field Service Engineer to install, start up, troubleshoot, and support automated inspection equipment at customer facilities throughout the United States.

This is a highly technical, customer‑facing role ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with machinery, electrical systems, and industrial automation. You will be responsible for taking equipment through installation, start‑up, commissioning, and customer acceptance, as well as providing ongoing troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical support.

* This position requires frequent travel, approximately 70–80%, including overnight travel throughout the United States.

Job Responsibilities:

• Install, start up, commission, and perform acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) on automated inspection equipment at customer facilities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, electronic, controls, and software‑related equipment issues.
• Diagnose equipment failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on customer equipment.
• Support equipment validation activities, including IQ/OQ/PQ, when required.
• Work with PLCs, HMIs, sensors, motors, electrical systems, and other industrial automation components.
• Provide on‑site and remote technical support to customers.
• Train customer operators and maintenance personnel on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance.
• Partner with Engineering, R&D, and technical support teams to resolve complex equipment issues and identify opportunities for product improvement.
• Communicate directly with customers regarding equipment status, technical issues, and service outcomes.
• Complete detailed service documentation, including work performed, hours, parts used, and equipment status.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or two‑year technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Automation, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field or an equivalent combination of education and hands‑on experience.
• 3+ years of experience working with industrial machinery, automated equipment, commissioning, field service, equipment installation, or a related technical environment.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and troubleshoot using electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, sensors, motors, VFDs, industrial controls, or automated machinery strongly preferred.
• Experience with equipment installation, machine start‑up, commissioning, FAT/SAT, or customer acceptance testing preferred.
• Experience with pharmaceutical, packaging, food & beverage, inspection equipment, or other automated manufacturing equipment is a plus.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to independently diagnose technical issues in the field.
• Professional communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers, technicians, engineers, and other internal teams.
• Ability and willingness to travel approximately 70–80%, including overnight stays.
