Job summary

Forgent Power Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Senior Field Service Engineer to act as the technical authority for complex field service, commissioning, and modernization of MV/HV power systems.

You will lead on-site activities, mentor technicians, and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence across transformers and protection/control systems. Travel will be extensive as you direct outages, commissioning, and diagnostics, including advanced transformer testing and system integration.

Qualifications

• 11+ years of field experience with MV/HV switchgear, protection and control systems or equivalent degree + field experience
• Ability to lead field crews and manage on-site execution for complex commissioning
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety practices (NFPA 70E/OSHA)
• Proven ability reading and redlining schematics, wiring diagrams, and one-line diagrams
• Authority in transformer field testing and condition assessment per IEEE C57
• Ability to develop commissioning and test plans and verify I/O from drawings
• Ability to write clear field reports and maintain test documentation
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel; able to obtain DOT qualification where required

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning and startup of complete electrical systems with acceptance testing.
• Serve as primary technical escalation point for protection and control issues.
• Plan diagnostics for equipment and protection issues; address complex interactions.
• Perform transformer diagnostics including SFRA, DFR, leakage reactance, partial discharge.
• Direct transformer repair, refurbishment, and retrofit programs; oversee LTC overhaul.
• Provide technical leadership during outages and critical recovery events.
• Mentor Field Service Engineers and technicians; review work quality.
