Job summary

Forgent Power seeks a Sr. Field Service Engineer to serve as the technical authority for MV/HV power systems, including transformers and protection and control. You will lead commissioning, diagnostics, and modernization work on site with customers and project teams, ensuring safety and quality.

You will mentor Field Service Engineers, supervise field crews, and drive schedule adherence and continuous improvement. Extensive travel and strong field reporting are required.

Qualifications

• 11+ years of field experience with MV/HV switchgear, protection, and control systems.
• Ability to lead field crews and manage on-site execution for complex commissioning events.
• Strong safety knowledge including NFPA 70E/OSHA and arc-flash controls.
• Proven ability to read and redline schematics, wiring, and one-line diagrams.
• Authority in transformer testing and condition assessment with IEEE C57 context.
• Ability to develop commissioning/test plans and verify I/O from drawings.
• Clear field reporting and documentation; valid driver's license and travel readiness.
• Must be at least 21 years old and able to obtain DOT qualifications when needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning and startup of complete electrical systems with testing.
• Serve as the primary technical escalation point for control and protection issues.
• Plan diagnostics for equipment and protection/control issues and complex interactions.
• Perform protection relay commissioning and end-to-end verification.
• Direct testing activities and supervise field crews and junior engineers.
• Mentor Field Service Engineers and technicians at multiple levels.
• Lead transformer diagnostics and system modernization programs.
• Deliver high-quality field service reports and commissioning checklists.
