Job summary

ABB is seeking a Field Service Technician for on-site work in Covington, VA. You will execute service work per instructions, maintain the ABB quality control solution, and communicate timelines with customers to ensure retention.

The role requires 2+ years related experience or an Associate’s degree, with hands-on electrical testing, wiring, and safety practices. Occasional travel and 24-hour emergency support are involved.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED with 2+ years of related experience, or an Associate’s degree and related experience.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and troubleshoot systems up to 240 VAC/870 VDC.
• Comfortable using basic hand tools and electrical test equipment.
• Exposure to DCS programming and troubleshooting is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Maintain quality control hardware and software per guidelines.
• Troubleshoot electrical/mechanical issues on-site and document PM/CM tasks.
• On-call for 24-hour emergency support and coordinate with teams.
• Lead upgrades, installations, and new functionality projects for customers.
• Mentor technicians and act as a trainer when needed.
