Job summary

ABB is seeking a Field Service professional to execute service work on quality control solutions onsite in Covington, VA. You will maintain hardware and software, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, and communicate effectively with plant staff and ABB teams to ensure uptime and customer satisfaction.

The role involves on-site field service, 24-hour emergency support, and travel up to 15% for training and site support, with a strong focus on safety and quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• HS diploma/GED with 2+ years of related experience or an Associate’s degree with electrical/electronics, instrumentation or process control experience.
• Ability to use electrical test equipment such as voltmeters or multimeters.
• Mechanical/Electrical aptitude with basic electrical theory and safety understanding.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and troubleshoot electrical systems up to 240 VAC/870 VDC.
• Travel up to 15% for training and site support.

Responsibilities

• Maintain quality control hardware and software, troubleshoot sensors, electrical issues, and the entire ABB quality control solution.
• Resolve customer service issues on-site, communicating effectively with plant operators and ABB personnel.
• On-call for 24-hour emergency support and some weekend coverage.
• Document work performed for preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Participate in upgrades, installations, or new functionality projects, coordinating with other groups and applying safety practices.
• Coach and mentor technicians, supervise complex site activities, and act as trainer when needed.
