Job summary

ABB is seeking a Field Service Engineer for the United States data center market within Electrification Services. You will lead start-up, commissioning and post-start-up field services, travel across the U.S., and uphold ABB safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• HS diploma/GED with 10+ years hands-on experience; OR associate/trade cert with 8+ years; OR bachelor’s with 3+ years; OR 5 years military experience servicing critical power equipment.
• Advanced electrical design expertise across all aspects of electrical design.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, safety codes, regulations, QA requirements.
• Excellent oral and written communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Analytical and quality-driven mindset with ability to improve processes.
• Able to collaborate cross-functionally with maintenance, engineering and management.
• Project leadership or supervisory experience with customer influence.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite and project-tracking tools.
• Preference for experience with Emerson RX3i/Proficy, ABB AC500/Automation Builder, CP600 HMI/Panelbuilder, Zenon/Cimplicity, and RTAC config.
• English fluency and US work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site customer engagement as ABB’s primary representative.
• Plan and deliver service tasks per customer orders and quality standards.
• Identify system and process improvements for performance gains.
• Capture and relay upgrade, service, and modernization opportunities.
• Coordinate site preparation and subcontractor activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues using certified tools.
• Ensure materials and equipment readiness for field tasks.
• Drive continuous improvement in processes and service delivery.
• Produce accurate reports and customer-signed documentation.
• Provide technical consulting and mentorship to colleagues and customers.
• Execute work in Power Delivery, LV/MV Electrification, and Control Systems.
• Uphold ABB safety culture, report hazards, and ensure PPE compliance.
