Job summary

Smiths Detection is seeking a Field Service Engineer to travel daily to locations in and around Seattle, WA. You will install, repair and maintain equipment in the field, train customers, document work, and manage parts cycles.

Minimum 1–3 years in troubleshooting electrical/electronic systems; strong communication and teamwork are essential. Willingness to travel on short notice and comply with safety and export regulations is required.

Qualifications

• Education/Training: Associate’s Degree/Related Trade Certification (electrical, electronic, mechanical) or military training. (Equivalence through 1-3 years related field service experience acceptable).
• Experience: 1-3 years troubleshooting and field repair of electrical/electronic systems and equipment.
• Knowledge/Skills: Excellent communication, customer focus, teamwork; travel on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Meet daily service repair needs and drive customer satisfaction.
• Install, repair and maintain equipment in the field; provide customer training as required.
• Document inspections, maintenance, repair work and submit paperwork in a timely basis.
• Order, install, and return parts and manages repair parts cycle time.
• Review logs for open issues and prepares formal reports to customers as necessary.
• Participate in Service Sales opportunities and assist with revenue programs.
• Ensure tools and test equipment are maintained and calibrated.
• Travel, overtime and work hours other than Monday-Friday may be required.
• Comply with safety, export control and security regulations.
