Job summary

Smiths Detection is seeking a Field Service Technician to travel to the Detroit metro area, including the airport, to install, repair and maintain Trace and X‑Ray equipment for customers.

The role emphasizes customer satisfaction, documentation, and participation in service sales opportunities, with background checks and SSI access requirements to support national security and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree/Trade Certification in electrical, electronic or mechanical fields.
• 1–3 years experience troubleshooting and field repair of electrical/electronic systems.
• Excellent communication and strong customer-focus with ability to travel on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Meet daily service repair needs and drive customer satisfaction.
• Install, repair and maintain equipment in the field and train customers as required.
• Document inspections, maintenance and repairs; submit paperwork timely.
