Job summary

Smiths Detection is seeking a Field Service Technician for the San Francisco area, with daily travel to locations around the city and surrounding airports. You will install, repair, and maintain security equipment, while training customers and ensuring timely service delivery.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree or related certification, 1–3 years of field repair experience, and strong communication skills. Travel on short notice is expected; a federal background check may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree/Related Trade Certification (electrical, electronic, mechanical).
• 1-3 years experience directly involved in troubleshooting and field repair of electrical and electronic systems/equipment.
• Excellent communications skills with strong customer focus and teamwork.
• Willing to travel on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Meet daily service repair needs and drive customer satisfaction.
• Installs, repairs and maintains equipment in the field; provides customer training as required.
• Documents inspections, maintenance, repair work and submits paperwork promptly.
• Order, install, and return parts and manages repair parts cycle time.
• Reviews logs for open issues and prepares formal reports to customers as necessary.
• Participates in Service Sales opportunities and assists with revenue programs.
• Ensures tools and test equipment are maintained and calibrated.
• May participate in site surveys, pilot service activities, meetings.
• Possesses basic technical knowledge on Trace and X-Ray technologies.
