Job summary

Smiths Detection is seeking a field service technician to travel to locations in and around the Norfolk, VA area, performing installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and electronic systems. You will train customers, document service activities, and support revenue programs while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.

The role requires 1–3 years of field service experience, excellent communication, and the ability to travel on short notice.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of troubleshooting and field repair experience on electrical/electronic systems.
• Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites and around the Norfolk, VA area.

Responsibilities

• Meet daily service repair needs and drive customer satisfaction.
• Install, repair and maintain equipment in the field; provide customer training as required.
• Document inspections, maintenance, and repairs; submit paperwork promptly.
• Order, install, and return parts; manage parts cycle time and inventory.
• Review logs for open issues and prepare reports for customers as needed.
• Participate in service sales opportunities and support revenue programs.
