Job summary

Mazak North America is seeking a Field Service Technician to install CNC Lathes and Machining Centers at customer sites, train operators, and perform warranty repairs from a home-based base. Travel is required, with overnight stays as needed, servicing customers primarily in the Bohemia, NY region.

The role reports to the Northeast Technology Center in Hartford, CT, and requires hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical and software issues, with emphasis on safe, reliable machine

Qualifications

• 2-year technical training in electronics, mechanical or machine tool assembly.
• 1–3 years of Field Service experience.
• High School Diploma.

Responsibilities

• Install machines and accessories at customer sites, including assembly, leveling, aligning and wiring.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and software problems at customer sites.
• Test operation of machines after installation or repair.
• Train customers on functions of the machines.
• Travel as required with overnight or multi-night stays.
• Complete reports documenting installation, repairs and parts installed.

We are currently searching for a candidate who will install equipment, train customers, execute warranty repairs and provide after‑warranty service on CNC Lathes and Machining Centers. Field Service Technicians are assigned regional responsibilities and operate directly from their residences. This position reports to the Northeast Technology Center in Hartford, CT. Duties involve overnight travel from home to various customer facilities, located primarily in the Bohemia, NY area.

Scope and Responsibilities

• Proactively attain a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
• Install machines and accessories at customer sites. Installation includes all necessary assembly, leveling, aligning, adjusting, calibrating and wiring of machines and accessories.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and software problems on machines and accessories at customer sites.
• Test operation of machines and accessories after completing installation or repair.
• Train customers on functions of the machines.
• Learn new machine features and accessories as they become available.
• Complete reports documenting installation, assessment of reported problem, repairs completed and parts installed.
• Travel is required. Assignments will require overnight or multiple‑night stays.
• Utilize various test equipment for troubleshooting purposes, indicators, test bars, clamp force gages, etc.

Education and Certifications

• 2‑year technical training in electronics, mechanical or machine tool assembly.
• 1–3 years of experience in Field Service.
• High School Diploma.

Skills

• Read/understand engineering drawings.
• Ability to work on own or in a group while completing necessary tasks.
• Ability to understand PLC.
• HYD/Pneumatic circuits knowledge.
