Job summary

SMA America is seeking a Field Service Engineer, Medium Voltage, to test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair SMA Medium Voltage systems in the field across the Western region. The role requires residence in the San Diego metro area with significant regional travel and a company truck provided for site visits.

We offer MV certification sponsorship, on-site training at Rocklin, CA, and a defined three-level career path with opportunities to lead crews and mentor junior technicians.

Qualifications

• At least one year of hands-on experience in electrical, electronic, utility, or field service roles.
• Exposure to medium voltage equipment such as transformers, switchgear, or substations.
• Associate degree or equivalent technical training in electrical/electronic technology.

Responsibilities

• Participates in daily safety briefings and mitigates hazards on site.
• Tests, inspects, maintains, and repairs SMA Medium Voltage systems in the field.
• Performs DGA sampling and applies results to actions.
• Keeps accurate field service reports and documents activities.
• Maintains inventory and vehicle readiness; supports customer contracts.
• Trains and mentors Level I/II technicians and supports RCA processes.
