Job summary

SMA America is seeking a Field Service Engineer for Medium Voltage in the Central region, covering San Antonio, TX. This field-based role requires regional travel across the Central region with a company vehicle provided for site work.

You will test, maintain, and repair SMA MV systems, collaborate with SMA AG teams, and participate in two to three weeks of inverter training at Rocklin, CA headquarters. A MV career path is defined from Level I to III.

Qualifications

• At least one year in electrical, electronic, utility, or field service roles.
• Exposure to medium voltage equipment such as transformers, switchgear, or substation work.
• Associate degree in electrical/electronic technology or equivalent.
• Ability to read prints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver’s license and suitable driving record.
• Willingness to travel approximately 80%.

Responsibilities

• Participate in daily site safety briefings and address hazards.
• Test, inspect, maintain, and repair SMA MV systems in the field.
• Document test reports and field service reports.
• Perform MV transformer core testing, maintenance, and site visits.
• Lead/mentor Level I–III technicians on site.
• Assist with RCA and customer communications as needed.
