Job summary

SMA America is seeking a Field Service Engineer, Medium Voltage, to test, maintain, and repair SMA MV systems in customer sites across the Western region. The role requires residency within the San Diego metro area and involves significant travel with a company truck provided for site mileage.

Responsibilities include testing and maintenance, documenting field activities, and collaborating with SMA AG and customers to resolve escalations.

Qualifications

• At least one year of hands-on experience in electrical, electronic, utility, or field service work.
• Exposure to medium voltage equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and terminations.
• An associate degree or qualified apprenticeship/technical training.
• Comfort with test equipment (digital voltmeter) and reading prints/schematics.
• Willingness to travel regionally and possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Participate in daily job site safety briefings and mitigate hazards.
• Test, inspect, maintain, and repair SMA Medium Voltage systems in the field.
• Conduct DGA sampling and apply results to determine actions.
• Maintain accurate field service reports and documentation.
• Lead and collaborate with field crews, customers, and cross-functional teams.
