Job summary

SMA America is seeking a Field Service Engineer for Medium Voltage in the Central region, covering Houston, TX. The role involves testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of SMA MV systems in the field, with extensive regional travel and a company-provided service vehicle.

Level I–III opportunities exist, with training through SMA and the potential to advance. A valid driver's license and MV-related certifications are expected, along with strong troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

• At least one year of hands on experience in an electrical, electronic, utility, or field service role. Military experience qualifies.
• Exposure to medium voltage equipment such as transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, terminations, or substation work.
• Associate degree in electrical/electronic technology or completed trade/apprenticeship or military training.

Responsibilities

• Participates in daily job site safety briefings, identifying hazards.
• Performs testing, inspection, maintenance and repair of SMA Medium Voltage systems in the field.
• Conducts DGA sampling and applies results to determine action.
• Works with high voltage DC, three-phase power, high AC voltage, and related software/firmware.
• Completes accurate documentation including test reports and field service reports.
• Maintains inventory and vehicle, and ensures safety compliance.
