Job summary

BD is seeking a dedicated Automation Servicer Engineer to service advanced diagnostic equipment in the Kansas City region. The role involves installation, maintenance, upgrades, and repairs across BD instruments, with remote work from home not typical and significant on-site activity.

The position requires a strong electronics/mechatronics background, PLCs, pneumatics, and the ability to coordinate with IT and lab leadership for software updates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronic Technology, Computer Science, Biomedical or related field OR 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Understanding of electronics, electro‑mechanical devices (Mechatronics), PLCs, and pneumatics.
• Intermediate knowledge of information systems networking architecture design and setup.
• Intermediate understanding of computer software operating systems and the ability to communicate with IT/lab leadership for software upgrades.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving history, be available to travel up to 50% and be on call as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 30–70 lbs and perform physical tasks as described.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer needs and perform installations, maintenance, upgrades, and repairs on BD instruments.
• Drive field service revenue through preventive maintenance and equipment moves.
• Set clear customer expectations and provide follow-up plans.
• Coordinate system upgrades with customers and document issues in systems of record.
• Maintain inventory, company vehicle, and equipment per policy.
• Participate in weekend/holiday on-call rotation (~every 6 weeks).
