Job summary

BD is a global medical technology leader seeking an Field Service Engineer to install, service, and upgrade laboratory instruments. You will collaborate with customers to ensure equipment meets specifications and respond quickly to support needs.

The role requires strong electronics and networking skills, willingness to travel up to half the time, and adherence to BD credentialing and safety standards. A Real ID is required for access to customer facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Technology, Biomedical or related disciplines.
• Understanding of electronics, electro-mechanical devices (Mechatronics), PLCs, and pneumatics.
• Intermediate knowledge of information systems networking architecture design and setup.
• Ability to speak with IT personnel to schedule and complete software upgrades.

Responsibilities

• Promptly respond to customer needs and perform installations, maintenance, upgrades, and repairs of instruments.
• Drive field service revenue through preventive maintenance and equipment moves.
• Lead customer expectations with clear communication and follow-up plans.
• Collaborate with customers to schedule and complete system upgrades as needed.
• Report and document all customer complaints in appropriate systems of record for resolution and investigation.
• Maintain spare parts inventory, company vehicle and equipment in good condition.
• Demonstrate prudent use of company credit card per policy.
• Travel up to 50% of time depending on business needs.
• Participate in on-call rotation (~every 6 weeks).
• Maintain professional appearance at all times.
• Complete vendor credentialing and Real ID requirements.
