Job summary

Sartorius North America is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install, maintain, calibrate, and repair laboratory instruments across the Midwest—Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa. You will service customer sites, diagnose issues, document reports, and travel as needed to ensure on-time support.

Ideal candidates have a technical background with strong communication skills and enjoy collaborating with internal teams to minimize downtime and improve instrument performance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a technical field, or High School Diploma/GED with relevant technical certification.
• Minimum 2 years of field service, maintenance, instrumentation, or related technical experience.
• Experience calibrating balances, scales, moisture analyzers, or similar lab instruments preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain technical equipment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a field-based environment.
• Proficiency with mobile applications, digital reporting tools, and Microsoft Office products.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional service and technical support during customer site visits.
• Perform installation, calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of balances and moisture analyzers.
• Diagnose equipment issues and provide effective, timely solutions to minimize customer downtime.
• Maintain accurate service documentation, reports, and records.
• Manage workload and service schedule to ensure on-time customer support.
• Utilize field service automation tools and systems to support daily operations.
• Follow Sartorius service procedures, quality standards, and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with internal technical teams to resolve complex issues and share best practices.
• Provide customers with technical guidance, product recommendations, and service insights.
• Build lasting customer relationships that drive satisfaction, retention, and business growth.
