Job summary

Montana Instruments is seeking a Service Engineer II for the Western US territory to perform on-site installation, maintenance, and repair of complex scientific equipment. You will engage with customers remotely and in person, provide precise diagnostics, and document service activities.

The role requires 1–3 years in a technical service environment, travel 50–75%, and strong communication with internal teams. A bachelor's degree in engineering and CRM/ERP familiarity are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 1–3 years in a technical service role with travel to customer sites.
• Experience with electronics, software, mechanical, and firmware components; cryogenics a plus.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and basic circuit troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with CRM/ERP software and MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot customer problems during on-site visits and remote support.
• Travel to customer sites for installation, maintenance, and user training.
• Prepare service reports and coordinate with sales, production, and shipping teams.
• Identify recurring issues and contribute to quality improvements.
• Promote service capabilities and support new product initiatives with HQ.
