Job summary
Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a field service engineer to install and service high-performance microscopy tools, including SEM, TEM, and FIB systems. The role blends hardware and software expertise with deep application knowledge in materials science and life sciences.
You will travel up to 75% across the Raleigh, NC area, perform on-site installations, maintenance, training, and rapid diagnostics. A Bachelor's degree and 3+ years' hands-on experience are required, with strong English
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 3+ years hands-on experience operating and maintaining advanced analysis tools such as SEM/TEM/FIB.
- Strong diagnostic and repair experience with ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% and lift up to 50 lbs.
Responsibilities
- Install on-site equipment and follow testing procedures to ensure proper operation.
- Perform on-site maintenance visits as scheduled.
- Diagnose and repair customer equipment and provide field service support.
- Build strong working relationships with customers and team members.
- Travel to customer sites on short notice to resolve issues.
- Complete and submit field service reports.
