Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Staff Field Service Engineer, Product Integrity & Defense, to provide hands-on technical support for vehicle inspections, warranty support, and legal-related investigations. Travel across the East Coast ~70%.

You will work at the intersection of field service, vehicle diagnostics, engineering, and Legal, evaluating complex vehicle concerns, documenting findings, and communicating results to diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 6 years of professional experience in automotive field service, vehicle diagnostics, automotive engineering, technical investigations, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience diagnosing and troubleshooting EVs and complex vehicle systems.
• Experience conducting vehicle inspections and writing clear technical reports.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical information to attorneys, engineers, service teams, and customers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and coordinate vehicle inspections in support of warranty, product liability, and incident related matters.
• Perform structured vehicle evaluations, including visual inspections, diagnostic scans, functional testing, and road testing when appropriate.
• Document inspection findings through notes, photographs, video, measurements, diagnostic records, and technical reports.
• Work with Legal, service, Quality, Engineering, and other stakeholders to define inspection scope and communicate findings.
• Travel to service centers and inspection sites; communicate technical findings to diverse audiences.
