Job summary

BD is seeking a Field Based Medical Science Liaison to advance plastic and reconstructive surgery programs across designated US territories. You will align medical strategy with cross‑functional partners and engage key opinion leaders to drive scientific exchange and education.

The role requires 3–5 years of MSL or plastic surgery experience, advanced clinical credentials, and the ability to manage a small territory while mentoring three MSLs.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of field-based MSL experience and/or clinical plastic surgery work experience.
• Plastic and reconstructive surgery experience is a must (industry or clinical background).
• Previous management experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Align medical strategy and key objectives with cross-functional partners (medical, clinical, marketing, regulatory, R&D, market access).
• Identify and map stakeholders (KOLs, plastic surgeons, HCPs, payers, patient groups, internal influencers).
• Gather and analyze data on stakeholder backgrounds and networks to prioritize engagement.
• Develop personalized engagement plans reflecting stakeholder needs and goals.
• Design and execute coordinated objectives for each audience segment with defined scientific outcomes.
• Deploy a blend of proactive and reactive engagement tactics (educational sessions, advisory boards, congress symposia).
• Use in-person or virtual KOL meetings, collaborative research, educational events, surgical congresses, digital platforms.
• Collect and communicate insights to refine medical strategy and support leadership in plastics and reconstructive surgery
• Maintain compliance and ensure separation between scientific engagement and promotional activity
• Track engagement activities against benchmarks and adapt tactics to maximize value
• Foster long-term relationships as a scientific expert and stay updated in the field
