Job summary

Graybar is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to develop new prospects and maintain contacts with established customers for selling company products. You will regularly interact with prospects and customers in person at their site or other off-site locations.

The role focuses on meeting/exceeding annual gross margin budgets, handling complaints, and keeping management informed about competition and market conditions. A 4-year degree is preferred and extensive travel is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience required; 2+ years preferred.
• Knowledge of business administration, sales, and marketing.
• Negotiation skills.
• Ability to learn our business and to work independently to achieve goals.
• Ability to sell and be persuasive.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed annual gross margin budget by promoting and selling products in the territory.
• Handle customer complaints promptly and report potential claims.
• Keep management informed of local competition and market conditions.
• Carry out sales and merchandise programs and suggest new items for stock.
• Maintain current customer records and assist in past-due collections.
• Participate in training sessions, trade shows, and sales meetings as requested.
• Demonstrate products after sale when necessary.
