Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to support Project Managers in delivering work that meets plans and specifications on a national project site. This role requires relocation to the project site.

You will review plans, assist with bids, manage shop drawings, and help keep schedules and communications on track with the superintendent and project team. Strong reading of blueprints and OSHA safety knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1+ year of experience with a commercial general contractor, or comparable internship experience, preferred.
• Good written and oral communication skills. Expresses ideas clearly in writing. Uses proper organization and grammar.
• Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
• The ability to read and understand blueprints.
• The ability to understand and apply OSHA and company safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assures compliance by becoming familiar with project plans and specifications; reviews shop drawings and submittals.
• Reviews plans for value analysis and constructability; communicates inconsistencies to the architect.
• Attends project meetings and distributes minutes.
• Publishes weekly progress reports and maintains project schedules.
• Assists in bidding and developing scope of work for trade contractors.
• Coordinates with the superintendent on shop drawings, milestones, and material lists.
• Maintains logs for drawings, clarifications, change requests, and proposals.
• Inspects concrete pours and reinforcing; coordinates slump and compaction testing.
