Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to assist Project Managers in ensuring installations meet plans and specifications. You will review drawings, coordinate with architects, and help manage budgets and schedules across national projects.

You will engage in value analysis, attend Owner/Architect meetings, and help prepare shop drawings, material lists, and logs while enforcing OSHA safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field.
• 1+ year of experience with a commercial general contractor or internship preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency with Word and Excel.
• Willingness to adapt plans to meet goals.
• Teamwork and collaboration.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Desire to learn and apply new information.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements.
• Integrity and adherence to policies.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
• Scheduling program knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers to ensure work meets plans and specs.
• Review plans for value analysis and constructability; communicate issues to architects.
• Attend meetings and distribute minutes; publish weekly progress reports.
• Update project schedules and coordinate with trades; assist in bidding and scope development.
• Ensure safety compliance and verify site procedures and installations.
