Job summary

Krystal Biotech is seeking a Patient Access Liaison to educate patients and healthcare teams on payer access, prior authorizations, and appeals. This field-based role supports sites of care, distributors, and specialty pharmacies across a national region.

The PAL will develop relationships with patients and caregivers, navigate reimbursement and access pathways, and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence and timely therapy initiation.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree required.
• 5+ years of experience in patient services, field reimbursement, biopharma sales or account management with direct patient education.
• Scientific background and ability to learn product and disease information.
• Orphan or Rare disease experience with patients/caregivers.
• Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines and FDA regulations.
• Ability to travel between 30%-50%.
• Ability to work in a team environment and lead with internal teams and partners.
• Previous experience with Patient Journey Navigator (PJN) preferred for patient services workflows.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients and office staff about payer access and insurance processes, including authorization requirements.
• Assist patients with locating sites of care and home dosing options.
• Identify appropriate personnel to support coverage and access needs.
• Educate on affordability options including copay assistance and PAPs.
• Provide non-medical educational support on initiating therapy.
• Prepare patients and coordinate next appointments and treatment.
• Build trusted relationships with patients and caregivers via calls, text, email, or in person.
• Follow a planned education program to optimize adherence to therapy.
• Educate centers and staff on product procurement options, billing, and coding requirements.
• Document case progress and tasks in the Krystal patient CRM/Workflow system.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
