Job summary

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) seeks an on-site Computer Technician to support technology at assigned locations, including installation, maintenance, and repair of computer hardware, software, networks, and peripherals.

Requires a HS diploma/GED and 1 year of related experience; preferred B.S. in IT or related field with ITSM and IT vendor experience. Valid MD driver's license is required; this role uses AFSCME pay scales and offers benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 1 year of experience supporting, installing, troubleshooting, testing, diagnosing, repairing and replacing computer equipment, network equipment and/or peripheral equipment.
• ITSM software knowledge and workflows for logging, tracking, and resolving issues.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware and software faults.
• Good verbal and written communication with staff and administration.

Responsibilities

• Resolve technology issues for Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) entities.
• Test and repair computer equipment.
• Use ITSM system to address service requests within SLAs.
• Communicate clearly with staff, administration and co-workers.
• Coordinate with vendors/contractors to maintain system performance.
• Maintain knowledge of current technology trends relevant to education and enterprise.
