Job summary

Osmose Utilities Services is seeking a Field Data Technician to gather detailed data on electric utility and telecom facilities in outdoor environments. The role involves hiking between pole spans to support outside plant engineering and fiber optic construction, with training provided.

This position requires routine overnight travel (1–2 weeks away from home), weekends at home, and occasional longer assignments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of outdoor work experience.
• Minimum 1 year in a role with safety programs or safety protocols.
• Minimum 6 months in a quality-controlled environment.
• Minimum 6 months travel with overnight stays.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
• Able to lift 15–20 lbs regularly.
• Basic computer proficiency including GPS map reading.

Responsibilities

• Collect field data outdoors to support fiber optic facility design.
• Submit detailed maps, field notes, and digital images for each project.
• Operate and maintain tablet, camera, measuring tools, and PPE.
• Represent Osmose and our customers in the field.
• Communicate daily with the project management team.
• Work safely and independently in outdoor conditions.
