Job summary

Osmose Utilities Services, Inc. is seeking Field Data Technicians to collect data on electric utility and telecom facilities. The role is outdoor and involves hiking between spans to capture measurements for outside plant engineering and fiber-optic projects.

The position requires overnight travel typically 1–2 weeks at a time, with weekends home and occasional longer assignments. Training will be provided, and a professional, safety-minded attitude is essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of telecommunications and/or electrical distribution systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of pole design including NESC requirements and general safety practices is a plus.
  • Enjoy outdoor work in all weather and able to lift 15–20 lbs regularly.
  • Basic proficiency with computers including reading and following GPS maps.
  • Ability to travel and work outside in variable terrain and weather conditions.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Present a professional appearance and attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an outdoor environment to collect data supporting engineering and design of fiber optic facilities.
  • Submit organized data for each project, including maps, field notes, and images.
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as tablet, camera, measuring tools, and PPE.
  • Represent Osmose professionally in the field and with customers.
  • Communicate daily with the project management team.
  • Work safely and independently.
