Job summary

Stantec’s Southern California Environmental Services team is seeking on-call archaeologists to support fieldwork across multiple offices. Responsibilities include pre-field planning, cultural surveys, STPs, data collection, and NRHP/CRHR assessments.

Travel within southern California is expected, with strong emphasis on safety and teamwork. Applicants should have a BA/BS in Anthropology or Archaeology and at least one year of relevant field experience; familiarity with DPR 523 forms and GPS/GNSS

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology required.
• Minimum 1 year relevant field experience (field school, internship, or CRM work).
• Experience in California archaeology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Field Directors with pre-field planning and surveys.
• Document precontact and historic resources to standards.
• Prepare field records, maps, and logs with accuracy.
• Use GIS tools for field mapping and data collection.
• Contribute to site significance evaluations and reports.
• Support safety, logistics, and team coordination in field settings.
