Job summary

Stantec seeks on-call archaeologists to support a growing portfolio of fieldwork across Southern California, including Pasadena and Santa Ana. Join a team focused on CEQA and NRHP/CRHR projects, with flexible scheduling and mentorship to advance careers in Cultural Resources.

The role emphasizes field and office tasks, safeguarding health and safety in remote environments, and collaboration with Field Directors, Project Managers, and support staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology from an accredited university.
• 1-year minimum relevant field experience (field school, internship, lab, CRM).
• Experience in California Archaeology preferred.
• Ability to work in small or large crews and in field and office settings.
• Fieldwork may involve remote areas, inclement weather, and physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Support Field Directors and Project Managers with pre-field planning, surveys, STPs, excavations, and monitoring.
• Identify and document precontact and historic resources per standards.
• Prepare site records, maps, and photographic logs.
• Use GPS/GNSS and GIS tools for data collection and mapping.
• Conduct desktop research and prepare DPR 523 forms or equivalents.
• Assist with impact assessments and NRHP/CRHR evaluations.
• Produce daily logs, monitoring reports, and HSSE documentation.
