Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. in Pasadena, CA, is seeking on-call archaeologists to support a growing portfolio of fieldwork, including CEQA and Section 106 projects with desktop reviews, pedestrian surveys, and construction monitoring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Anthropology or Archaeology from an accredited university.
• 1-year minimum relevant field experience (field school, internship, lab work).
• Archaeological experience in California preferred.
• Ability to work in small and large crews and in remote field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Directly support Field Directors and Project Managers with pre-field planning, surveys, STPs, and monitoring of construction activities.
• Identify and document precontact and historic resources per state and federal standards.
• Prepare detailed field documentation: site records, forms, soil descriptions, maps, and photo logs.
• Use GPS/GNSS tools and ESRI software for accurate data collection and mapping.
• Conduct desktop research: record searches, DPR 523 forms, and archival reviews.
• Contribute to site significance assessments under NRHP/CRHR criteria.
• Prepare timely deliverables: daily logs, monitoring reports, HSSE documentation.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a professional work environment.
• Work independently or as part of a team in varied field conditions.
• Provide field logistics support including equipment care and supplies management.
