Job summary

Oxford Nanopore Technologies is seeking a commercially focused Field Applications Scientist to join our Technical Services team in the United States. This field-based role partners with Sales to support opportunities, deliver technical guidance, and drive adoption of ONT workflows.

You will work with customers and internal teams across pre- and post-sales activities, travel up to 70% in the Northeast region, and demonstrate exceptional scientific communication and problem-solving.

Qualifications

• PhD in Life Sciences preferred, or Master’s with relevant commercial experience.
• Strong background in molecular biology, genomics, or sequencing.
• Experience supporting experimental design, workflow optimization, and data analysis.
• Excellent scientific communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• 1–2 years of commercial, customer-facing experience.
• Familiarity with bioinformatic workflows for sequencing data analysis.
• Ability to identify customer needs and partner with Sales to grow accounts.
• Experience delivering scientific training or customer presentations.
• Experience using CRM systems such as Salesforce.

Responsibilities

• Support pre-sales and post-sales technical guidance to customers.
• Deliver presentations, workshops, and training to diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with Sales, Product Management, Marketing, and Technical Services.
• Develop engagement plans for strategic accounts and drive technology adoption.
• Document customer interactions in ONT CRM systems.
• Travel up to 70% within the region.
