Job summary

Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) is seeking a commercially focused Field Applications Scientist to join our Technical Services team. This field-based role will partner with Sales and cross-functional teams to drive technology adoption, support growth, and ensure customer success with ONT products and workflows.

You will travel up to 70% within the Northeast region, providing pre-sales and post-sales technical support, training, and strategic account engagement.

Qualifications

• PhD in Life Sciences preferred, or Master’s with relevant commercial experience.
• Strong lab background in molecular biology, genetics, genomics, sequencing.
• Experience supporting experimental design, sample prep, workflow optimization, data analysis.
• Excellent scientific communication and presentation ability.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• 1–2 years of commercial and customer-facing experience.
• Familiarity with CRM systems such as Salesforce.
• Experience delivering scientific training or workshops.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Sales to support commercial opportunities and provide technical expertise.
• Deliver pre-sales and post-sales technical support, including consultations and training.
• Build strong technical relationships to drive adoption of ONT technologies.
• Deliver presentations, workshops, and training to diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet customer and business objectives.
• Develop and execute engagement plans for strategic accounts.
• Provide customer, market, and competitor feedback to stakeholders.
• Document customer interactions in ONT CRM systems.
• Support colleagues and initiatives beyond assigned territory when needed.
• Frequent travel within the region; up to 70% travel.
