Job summary

Oxford Nanopore Technologies seeks a commercially focused Field Applications Scientist to join our Technical Services team in the United States. The role partners with Sales, delivers technical guidance, and drives adoption of ONT workflows across customers and prospects.

This field-based position requires strong scientific credibility and exceptional communication. Travel up to 70% within the region (MA, RI, CT) and collaboration with multiple internal teams to grow accounts and ensure customer

Qualifications

• PhD preferred, or Master’s with relevant commercial/customer-facing experience.
• Strong laboratory background in molecular biology, genomics, or related fields.
• Experience supporting experimental design, workflow optimization, and data analysis.
• Exceptional scientific communicator and presenter who translates complex concepts for customers.
• Proficiency with MS Office and CRM systems such as Salesforce.
• 1–2 years of commercial and customer-facing experience.
• Experience with bioinformatic workflows for sequencing data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Sales to support commercial opportunities and provide technical expertise.
• Deliver pre-sales and post-sales technical support, including consultations and training.
• Build and maintain strong technical relationships to enable adoption of ONT technologies.
• Deliver presentations, workshops, and training to diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with Technical Services, Sales, Product Management, and Marketing to meet business goals.
• Develop engagement plans for strategic accounts and capture customer feedback.
