Job summary

Oxford Nanopore Technologies seeks a Field Applications Scientist to drive adoption of ONT workflows in the Southern Plains territory. This highly customer-facing role blends science with commercial acumen and frequent travel across MO, KS, IA, NE, OK, and AR.

The successful candidate partners with Sales and cross-functional teams to deliver technical guidance, training, and tailored solutions that advance customer success and revenue growth.

Qualifications

• PhD in Life Sciences preferred or Master’s with relevant commercial or scientific experience.
• Strong laboratory background in molecular biology, genetics, or genomics.
• Experience supporting experimental design, workflow optimization, and data analysis.
• Excellent scientific communication and presentation skills.
• Proven troubleshooting and prioritization abilities.
• Solid organizational skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Sales to support commercial opportunities and provide technical expertise.
• Deliver pre-sales and post-sales technical support, including consultations and training.
• Build and maintain strong technical relationships to ensure adoption of ONT technologies.
• Deliver presentations, workshops, and training to diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet customer and business goals.
• Develop engagement plans for strategic accounts aligned to customer needs.
• Provide timely customer, market, and competitive feedback to stakeholders.
• Document customer interactions in ONT CRM systems.
