Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners on construction sites and deliver CAD-ready data. You will plan and execute scans before pours, verify data on site, process scans in Artec Studio, and produce meshes, reports, and scan-to-CAD files for engineers and fabricators.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating handheld structured-light or laser scanners on real projects.
• Familiar with Artec Studio and scan-processing workflows.
• Able to read structural or fabrication drawings (CAD familiarity).

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of sites and embeds before concrete placement and on damaged structures.
• Control drift on large objects with reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL, OBJ, E57, and CAD formats.
• Produce deviation color maps, measurement reports, crack maps, and anchor bolt reports against drawings or CAD.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
• Document capture procedure, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
