Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners on diverse projects from concrete pours to machine shops. You will capture, process, and deliver scan data using Artec Studio and export to CAD formats, with travel across regional hubs and on-site duties at active construction sites and plants.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld 3D scanner on real projects, bring examples.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; mesh cleanup, registration, export.
• Familiarity with CAD drawings and ability to read structural/fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants; able to carry equipment, climb, and work outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of various structures and components before pours or after damage.
• Control drift on large objects with reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL/OBJ/E57 and CAD formats.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, and anchor bolt coordinates against drawings or CAD.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
• Document capture procedures and chain-of-custody on forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with superintendents and plant contacts.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
