Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners (Artec Leo/Eva/Space Spider) on diverse sites from concrete pours to plant inspection. You will capture data on site, process it in Artec Studio, and deliver scan-to-CAD files and reports the client can act on.

We train you in capture procedures, drift control, and reporting templates, sponsor ACI or ICC certifications, and offer regional hub opportunities as the line grows.

Qualifications

• H Hands-on experience operating handheld scanners (Artec Leo/Eva/Space Spider) on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software.
• Familiarity with CAD and reading structural or fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and able to carry equipment, climb, and work outdoors.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable record.
• Able to travel and fly with equipment as assigned.
• Experience with scan-to-CAD or metrology reporting is a plus.
• ACI, NICET, ICC certifications a plus; company sponsors them.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement.
• Control drift on large objects with reference features, tape-measure backbones, and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL, OBJ, E57, and CAD formats.
• Produce deviation color maps, measurement reports, crack maps, pit-depth tables, and anchor bolt coordinate reports against drawings or CAD.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks, or hand clean meshes to the modeling team.
• Document capture procedure, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Keep the scanner, batteries, and calibration records in order.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with superintendents and plant contacts.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
