Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a trained 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners (Artec Leo/Eva/Space Spider or equivalent) on active construction sites and plants. You will capture data, process with Artec Studio, and deliver scan-to-CAD results for review by engineers and clients.

You must be able to travel to regional hubs, carry equipment, and maintain safety protocols while coordinating access with site contacts. Experience with CAD and metrology reporting is a plus.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating handheld structured-light or laser scanners on real projects; bring examples.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable software; mesh cleanup, registration, export.
• Familiarity with CAD and ability to read structural or fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants; able to carry equipment and travel.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement and other structures.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlaps.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD formats.
• Produce deviation maps, measurement reports, crack maps, and anchor bolt reports against drawings.
