Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a hands-on 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners (Artec Leo/Eva/Space Spider) on varied field projects. You will capture, process, and deliver meshes, point clouds, and scan-to-CAD outputs, with emphasis on accuracy and documentation on active sites.

You will work on rebar mats, corroded pipes, beams, and machine parts, traveling to regional hubs as required.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects; provide examples.
Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; mesh cleanup, registration, export.
Familiarity with CAD drawings and ability to read structural or fabrication drawings.
Comfortable on active construction sites and industrial plants; able to carry equipment, climb, and work outdoors.
Valid driver's license with acceptable record; able to travel with equipment.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute handheld 3D scans before concrete placement and on failed or damaged structures.
Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlap zones.
Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, export to STL/OBJ/E57 and CAD formats.
Produce deviation maps and coordinate reports against drawings or CAD.
Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering; hand-clean meshes for modeling.
